Hawk’s Tor is one of the more exploited tors on Bodmin Moor. You’ll find a larger number of recorded climbs here than on some of the other tors. There is a mix of grades but in particular, there are plenty of routes for those of us operating in the lower grades!

To find Hawk’s Tor, you need to get onto the B3254 from Liskeard to Launceston. At Middlewood, turn left into the unlikely looking road just before the bridge. Follow this narrow and undulating road to a small car park before a gate. Looking over the gate, you will see Kilmar Tor on your left, and Trewortha Tor on the right (with King Arthur’s Bed hidden behind). To get to Hawk’s Tor, which can be seen sitting above the car park, you need to walk back down the road a little ways, until you come to a farm gate on your left. The difficult-to-follow path proceeds over a small marshy stream, trending left through a couple of un-bounded fields, before trending right, up the hill towards the tor. Keep in mind to stay far to the right of the tor, rather than proceeding directly, or you will be subjected to some classic Cornish bush-whacking – made all the more interesting in the summer tick season!
