This remote-feeling part of Bodmin Moor is rarely visited. There is little recorded activity here as yet, although a certain amount has been climbed and not claimed.
As well as sporting some of the most stunning views on the moor, there is a lot of scope here for recording bouldering problems – particularly in the easier grades.
Perhaps the best way to get to Bearah Tor, is via Sharp Tor. A worthy venue in itself. Take the B3254 from Liskeard to Launceston, past Pensilva and through Upton Cross. When you get to the Darley Ford garage on the big U-bend, turn left towards Henwood and Sharp Tor. After driving through the centre of the tiny hamlet, you will see the road branch off to the right, sign-posted as a dead-end. Take this road and park at the small car park. you will see Sharp Tor on your right… walk a little away from the car park and take the gate which leads onto an obvious path to the first tor. From Sharp Tor you can see Bearah Tor across the valley. There is a small quarry sited at Bearah Tor that may be in use from time to time.
