This venue has been popular for a number of years now. There is some great bouldering to be had, and maybe even the possibility of some shaley, esoteric routes. However, The Cave, one of the most amiable parts of the cliffs here for bouldering, has recently suffered extensive rock-fall. As well as the ground now being considerably higher than it used to be, the landings have become extremely unpleasant. The Wave area is thankfully unaffected.
You should also be aware, that coming from Downderry, The Cave and the bouldering beyond, are only accessible for a couple of hours either side of high tide. The Wave area is accessible except when the tide is at its highest.
To get to the bouldering, park in Downderry village (which is on the south coast, a few miles east of Looe). Walk along the road, eastwards out of the village, heading up hill until you come to a very sharp u-bend. In front of you is a large wooden gate into a beautiful seafront property. Turn right here onto the South West Coast Path, and immediately right again, to descend steeply down through the vegetation to Downderry nudist beach (keep your eyes straight ahead!). Once you’re on the beach, head east again until you reach the small promontory in the distance. The well worn, unusual rock formation on this promontory is The Wave, and marks the start of the good bouldering.
