If you can find this surprising little buttress, you will be treated to a fine, Cornish in-land V Diff. If not, you will be joining the ranks of the many who have tried and failed!

There are a couple of other noteworthy routes here, and the tor is in a fine setting, making it well worth the search.

When trying to find the Devil’s Jump, be sure to take the OS map! No amount of written directions are going to get you there. Having said that…

Take the B3266 Camelford to Bodmin road and turn off at the second exit on the left sign-posted for Trecarne. After half a mile or so, you will come to a little right hand turn that fords the river Camel. You can park your car in the little lay-by here, but if it is full, you will have to proceed over the ford and ask permission to park at Henon Farm. From here, walk up the path until you pass a farm gate on your left and a small building on your right. Just pass this you need to find the overgrown path that leads under some low-arched howthorns and rowans (stoop). It’s barely visible but there. At the end of this turn left again onto the open moorland and head back towards the rive. Countour along the top of the hill without actually dropping down into the wooded banks of the river, until you see the top of the Devil’s Jump rocks. Head steeply down the right side of these to the base of the climbing.
